Flute Repair & Servicing

 

SERVICING of a flute comprises checking pads for “leaks”, checking and regulating key mechanisms to eliminate free play and restore correct opening, checking head stop cork and tenon fit, cleaning and lubrication. Head stop corks will normally be replaced if adjustment is required and the stop position will be adjusted to factory setting. Leaking pads may be rectified by adjustment or replacement. Key felts and corks will be replaced if necessary. Pads used are deluxe yellow skin.

 

PRICE GUIDE to service a flute is from £70 - £200 including VAT where applicable. Complete re-pad and overhaul will cost more than £200.

 

REPAIRS. Specific repairs such as minor regulation adjustments or restoring damaged tenons can be carried out if requested. There is a minimum charge of £25.

 

PLAYING TEST ON COMPLETION OF WORK. All instruments are tested by playing after repair to ensure they are functioning properly and to a standard in keeping with their age and quality.
